Sugar Rush

Cooking and baking are passions of mine and they bring me so much joy.  I remember learning to cook and bake as a small child with my mom.  And, as an adult, traveled to Paris with my mom and took a pastry class at the famous Le Cordon Bleu.  Truly a dream come true.  Unfortunately, I lost my mom a year and a half ago unexpectedly, but I continue to carry on with one of our family Christmas traditions.  For over 65 years, my family has been baking cookie boxes for family and friends every Christmas.  This is a 3 day bake-a-thon, and I'm not kidding.  In years past, we have made up to 50 different types of cookies and candies in one weekend.  You read that right, 5-0.  Now that it's just my sister and myself, with the occasional help of my teenage niece and nephew, we cranked out a varitey of 21 this weekend.  We are baking machines!

The Christmas Baking Bible.  It holds every recipe for Chirstmas cookies and candies.

I spent a lot of time at the mixer.

And ended up with a lot of goodness like this...

Here's how I box them up.  This year I used a beautiful toile waxed tissue in kraft brown boxes...

And tied them with a green silk ribbon and gift tag...

Now that's a sugar rush!
