Don't you just love when things start to bloom and take shape in your garden? Telling you our weather here in Seattle has been dreadful is a bit of an understatement. One of the worst Springs on record. Yikes! Things are suppose to turn around this coming weekend, bringing lots of sunshine and much warmer temps.
Thought I'd show you what's going on in my garden these days as everything is blooming really late this year. My mother was a Master Gardener and growing up we always had the most beautiful gardens. People would actually stop their cars in the road to ask her about her yard! Some even knocked on the front door! My siblings and I have a lot to live up to and I'd say we have all done a superb job with our own. Now I get people stopping in front of my house to ask questions!
These are Hardy Geraniums. They can slowly take over beds, but they are gorgeous when in bloom.
Okay, I'm cheating on the next few. I had to plant more lavender this year. After a few years or so they start to look 'woody' and you have to take them out. These and several others just went in the ground over the weekend. The smell is intoxicating!
Another favorite, Forever Summer Hydrangeas. Do you have any? One of my all-time favorites. Of course, these too are only blooming because I just bought and planted them. I probably have at least 15 or more hydrangea shrubs in my garden. This one is in a pot on my back patio. Love the pink!
I don't remember the name of this one. It's in a basket that hangs on the gate to my back garden.
Love this little Iris. So pretty and delicate.
And finally, an urn of fuchsias by my back door. These remind me of my mom.
Still not blooming are my peonies! At the rate they're growing, they won't be blooming for at least another month!!! My lilacs are also taking their own sweet time. Pathetic, I know.
What are some of your favorite flowers in your garden?
