ABC's of Abby - A Delightful Design

Today's installment of ABC's is with the lovely Abby from A Delightful Design.  Not only did she recently start her own design business, but she and her family just moved into a new house.  You won't want to miss following her along in the home's transformation.  I cannot wait to see what she does with it!  Alright, now let's get to know more about Abby...

Best vacation: Honestly, I couldn't decide.  Last October I met my college girlfriends in Chicago for a weekend of shopping and chatting up a storm.  I've been to plenty of unique locations, but it's the company that makes the trip.
Chore you hate: Cleaning the kitchen after dinner.  I'm counting the days until my boys are old enough to do this for me!
Dogs or Cats: Dogs.
Essential start of your day: Coffee, and plenty of it with cream, no sugar.
Favorite flower: Anything white--preferably peonies, but I love a mix of all white flowers of different
Greatest film: How could I choose?  Grease, Steel Magnolias, Love Actually.  Yep, all chick flicks!
Height: 5'5".
Instruments {you play or have played}: I have played the piano since first grade and dabbled in the clarinet during the school band years.
Job you'd love to have: I always wanted to decorate interiors, but if I wasn't doing that then food critic would be a close second.
Kids:  I have two boys: Jack and Holden.  There are six years between them; partly because I wanted to make sure our marriage was in a healthy place before we had another child, and partly because I miscarried a year before Holden was born. All of that just makes us appreciate Holden even more.  I'm still surprised how much they love and play with each other!
Live: Grand Rapids, Michigan.  You may have seen us here!
Mom's name:  Eileen.  My dad actually named a sailboat "Eileen Over".  Get it?
Nickname: "Abbs".  As long as you call me something nice (and not "scabby Abby") I'll answer. :-)
Overnight hospital stays: I broke my pelvis in three places from a car accident.  That was 11 days in the hospital and weeks at home.
Pet peeve: In my old age of 31 I'm learning that my pet peeve is being dismissed or not feeling heard.  Maybe that's why I started a blog?!
Quote:  A year from now you will wish you had started today.     --Karen Lamb  There are countless Bible verses I love, but I'm loving this Karen Lamp quote right now.
Right or left handed: Right
Siblings: None.  My husband and I are both only children.
Time you wake up:  Whenever I hear Holden crying or Jack wakes me up.  That's usually around 6:00 a.m., and I'm stumbling for the coffee and savoring morning snuggles.  Good thing they're cute!
University attended:  Michigan State University.  My degree is in International Relations. It's safe to say I don't use it much. :-)
Vegetables you dislike:  Raw onions or beets.
What makes you run late:  Children!
X-rays: Tibia and pelvis.
Yummy food you make:  Honestly, I love to cook.  A few of my favorites are chocolate creme brulee, chicken picatta, lasagna, pan-fried onion dip, and different recipes I create.  Cooking and decorating have so much in common!
Zoo animal:  Peacock.  It's gorgeous!  How could I pass on that?

Thank you allowing me to stop by today! Marianne's blog was one of the first I started reading and it's such a treat to be part of this fun series.

Loved having you here today, Abby!  Thank you so much for being my guest.
I love to cook too, so I think being a food critic would be a lot of fun!  xo
