Summer Dinner Party

While the rest of the country has been melting in a heat wave, us Seattleites have been dying for some sunshine and warmth.  I happened to catch the news last week, which I rarely watch, and they said Seattle has had only 78 minutes of temps over 80 degrees this year.  78 minutes???  Crazy, I know, but sadly true.  Well, the last few weekends have been gorgeous and I figured I better start having some friends over to enjoy some meals outdoors.  Finally, last night was one of those nights.

I did a simple table setting and added some hydrangeas from the yard as the centerpiece.

I even turned on my lights that hang from the house on the back patio for a little ambiance when the sun started to go down.

I served Ina's Tuscan Lemon Chicken, which was to die for!  Have you tried it?  The grilled lemons were so good squeezed over the chicken.  I also had an orzo side dish, not shown.

A friend brought this salad with strawberries, goat cheese and candied walnuts which was served with a balsamic vinaigrette.  Yum!

And for dessert, I made Ina's Lemon Yogurt Cake.  Delicious!

It was such a great evening spending time with friends and you really couldn't beat the weather!  Fingers crossed for more sunny weekends!
